$25K down the drain on a resort ad shoot? (Real Weather vs. AI)

Weather is one of the major factors, professionals check first to avoid wasting this significant investment.

When checking the weather, don't just look at the probability of precipitation. Tides level should be checked as well, especially for coastal resorts, or you can end up with a very unattractive beach.

Pay close attention to cloud forecasts that predict the height, type, and amount of clouds in your shooting area. High-level clouds can actually be your friend – they add beautiful texture to the sky and create dynamic light.

However, watch out for mid and low-level cloud coverage exceeding 70%. These appear as flat, gray sheets covering most of the sky, leaving your shots without colour and contrast – definitely not the vibrant resort imagery clients expect!

Once on location, check the sun's position using an app to determine the best time for those sun-drenched, "I want to be there" shots that are hard to resist.

In recent years, weather patterns have grown increasingly erratic due to climate change and despite favourable forecasts, sometimes we end up with an absolutely flat image. In one such occurrence I sought help of AI. Even though prosumer AI solutions already look promising, the ones that fit in the budget are not quite there yet for truly professional results.
